I’ve been thinking about attraction, sexuality, and relationships and I think I’ve come up with a good way to break down a few things. I don’t know if this is universal, but it makes sense to me. For me, there are three types of sexuality/sexual attraction/normal attraction (I’m not quite sure specifically): Physical, Mental, and Emotional. One can think of these acting in concert with one another like a triple Venn diagram, but it’s more amorphous than this. Things that I am attracted to are mouth, eyes, face, figure, fashion, personality, sensuality/sexuality, intellect, speech patterns, self-awareness/reflectiveness, and attraction to me. These can potentially be broken down into the more generic attractions listed above. The physical attraction would be things like mouth, eyes, face, figure; mental attraction would be intellect, sensuality, and self-awareness; and emotional attraction would be personality, speech patterns, and attraction to me. These can co-mingle though. For instance, a woman can use her face (physical) for a number of different expressions that stimulate mental and emotional attraction, but that attraction is heightened when all three are in concert. A beautiful face on a woman who is intelligent and emotionally available to me is like a dream come true and I’m looking for someone who is high enough in all three. I’m not looking for a supermodel, but someone who is modestly attractive and not physically unfit or unattractive; I’m not looking for someone who has their PhD in something STEM related, but someone who at least has their Bachelors and not someone who is working as a retail worker/barista/bartender; I’m not looking for someone who is so emotional that I have to walk on eggshells around them, but someone who is able to express their emotions and connect with me and is not a complete doorknob. These tend to run into each other. For example, if someone is able to have an intellectual conversation with me, I’ll be mentally stimulated and start to develop an emotional attachment that will inevitably lead to desiring a physical interaction. To be honest, a supermodel with a PhD in a STEM-related field who is head over heels into me would be awesome, but I know that is not realistic. This is going to be a short post, but I’m sure I will elaborate on it more at some point.
