Who I voted for in the 2022 Midterm Elections

January 3rd, 2023

It took me a while to put this together and I didn’t really have time to consider in detail why I was for or against certain candidates. I voted for almost all democrats, except for the NC Senate and House which I voted Libertarian (for whatever reason, I don’t quite remember) and the Wake County Sherriff which I I voted Republican. Honestly, there are too many people to vote for and I’d much rather vote on policies than people.

  • (R) – Republican
  • (D) – Democratic
  • (C) – Constitution
  • (G) – Green
  • (L) – Libertarian
  • (N) – Nonpartisan
  • U.S. SENATE – NORTH CAROLINA: Matthew Hoh (G), Cheri Beasley (D), Shannon W. Bray (L), Ted Budd (R)
    • Interestingly, I voted for Cheri Beasley for the Supreme Court in 2020, but it seems she didn’t win that.
  • U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES – NORTH CAROLINA 13TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT: Bo Hines (R), Wiley Nickel (D)
    • I was very much against Bo Hines as he just seemed like a Trump wannabee, political opportunist.
  • NORTH CAROLINA SUPREME COURT ASSOCIATE JUSTICE – SEAT 3: Richard Dietz (R) or Lucy Inman (D)
    • Interestingly, I voted against Lucy in the last election, but my decision was pretty arbitrary
  • NORTH CAROLINA SUPREME COURT ASSOCIATE JUSTICE – SEAT 5: Sam J. Ervin IV (D) or Trey Allen (R)
  • NORTH CAROLINA APPEALS COURT JUDGE – SEAT 8: Julee Tate Flood (R) or Carolyn Jennings Thompson (D)
  • NORTH CAROLINA APPEALS COURT JUDGE – SEAT 9: Brad A. Salmon (D) or Donna Stroud (R)
  • NORTH CAROLINA APPEALS COURT JUDGE – SEAT 10: John M. Tyson (R) or Gale Murray Adams (D)
  • NORTH CAROLINA APPEALS COURT JUDGE – SEAT 11: Darren Jackson (D) or Michael J. Stading (R)
  • NORTH CAROLINA STATE SENATE – DISTRICT 15: Jay J. Chaudhuri (D), Emanuela Prister (R), or Sammie Brooks (L)
  • NORTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES – DISTRICT 41: Maria Cervania (D), Bruce K. Forster (R), Kevin Terrett (L)
    • Interestingly, I voted against Maria when she ran for the Wake County Board of Commissioners, but it seems she won.
  • NORTH CAROLINA DISTRICT COURT JUDGE – DISTRICT 10D, SEAT 1: Margaret Eagles (D)
    • Margaret was the only candidate for the district.
  • NORTH CAROLINA DISTRICT COURT JUDGE – DISTRICT 10D, SEAT 2: J. Brian Ratledge (R)
    • Brian was the only candidate for the district.
  • NORTH CAROLINA DISTRICT COURT JUDGE – DISTRICT 10D, SEAT 3: Ned Mangum (R)
    • Ned was the only candidate for the district.
  • NORTH CAROLINA DISTRICT COURT JUDGE – DISTRICT 10D, SEAT 4: Rhonda Graham Young (D)
    • Rhonda was the only candidate for the district.
  • NORTH CAROLINA DISTRICT ATTORNEY – DISTRICT 10: Jeff Dobson (R) or Nancy (Lorrin) Freeman (D)
  • WAKE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – DISTRICT 1: Chanel N. Harris (R) or Donald Mial (D)
  • WAKE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – DISTRICT 2: Matt Calabria (D) or Mark McMains (R)
  • WAKE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – DISTRICT 3: Irina Comer (R) or Cheryl F. Stallings (D)
  • WAKE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – DISTRICT 7: Vickie Adamson (D)
    • Vickie is the only candidate for the district.
  • CLERK OF SUPERIOR COURT: Blair Williams (D)
  • SHERIFF: Donnie Harrison (R) or Willie Rowe (D)
    • Donnie seemed to me to be much more energectic and Enthusiastic than Willie, which I was interested in.
  • WAKE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD – DISTRICT 5: Jim Martin (N)
    • Jim was the only candidate for the District.
  • WAKE SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT BOARD: M.C. Brock (N), Jean Luc Duvall (N), Marshall Harvey (N), or Scott Lassiter (N)
    • I’m going with Marshall only because he’s held the position for a while, otherwise I would definitely go with Scott Lassiter even though he has a political science degree. He also has a school administration master’s and an education background which I think would be useful for the position.
  • WAKE COUNTY SCHOOL BONDS: Yes or No
    • I believe affordable housing is a way to reduce racial inequality and a way to maybe help me with buying a house by increasing the supply of housing available.
